a new online hub

I am in the middle of creating an online hub for myself, the best way to describe it is this:

A clean page inspired by minimalism that automatically updates itself with my social media activity from sites like Twitter, Facebook, LastFM, Digg and many others.

popurls widget

popurls is a web 2.0 mashup that collects popular news stories from other websites and gathers the top stories in one place for you :-)
I’ve been using this little mashup for the past year and it’s really nice to see them grow their features. They now let you create a widget that you can embed on your website which I just had to try!

How the widget works:

  1. Visit popurls and click on any news story
  2. If you like the story, share it
  3. The story shows up automatically anywhere you placed the widget
  4. Bonus: You can also have your stories show up on Facebook automatically.

Ajaxload – AJAX loading gif generator

Web 2.0 stuff is starting to show up in more places. Today I stumbled upon ajaxload.info; A fine example of AJAX in action.

load imageAs the name implies, this site allows you to create your very own, custom .gif image that can be used in AJAX applications. Just for kicks, I created the image on the right using my 2 favorite hex colors; FFFFFF and FCAA01.

Next steps

This little discovery is making me realize that I need to get working on my very own interpretation of AJAX in action… so I’ll do some more digging around for now.
