If I had to pick the single most interesting thing about Naples, it would be the traffic; to be more specific, it would be the way the scooters manuever around this bustling city.
The scooters:
Most of the scooters on the road are “Vespas”, and can be heard and seen cruising all over town, including sidewalks. Traffic lights are nothing but decorations around here. The scooters often times have 2 people in them and sometimes you can see the passenger from one scooter talking to passengers of other scooters.
The cars:
Italian cars have always held a special place in my heart; after all this is the birthplace of the Ferrari, Opel, Lancia, Mazerari, Alfa Romeo and Fiat. Cars here have a much smaller footprint, than U.S. Counterparts; which is ideal for dealing with tiny and narrow side streets.
Note: a typical police vehicle is either a Fiat or an Alfa Romeo.
I’m writting this from the train back to Rome. We are on the Eurostar, which is a high-speed, non stop train and it’s awesome.
I will post pictures of all this of course.
Ciao
