I was catching up on RSS feeds the other day and ran across a blog post by Wil Wheaton on ; patton oswalt on geeks vs. nerds so of course I had to check it out. Here is a blurb from an interview with Wired magazine.
Wired: There’s a great line on your new album, Werewolves: “My geekiness is getting in the way of my nerdiness.” What’s the distinction?
Oswalt: A lot of nerds aren’t aware they’re nerds. A geek has thrown his hands up to the universe and gone, “I speak Klingon — who am I fooling? You win! I’m just gonna openly like what I like.” Geeks tend to be a little happier with themselves.
I specially like the part when the geek decides to openly like what they like; This is exactly what I’ve been doing ever since I decided to embrace my identify and not care so much what others think of me. Who cares right!? and I’m loving every minute of it.
