Are you a D-lister?

Do you have a blog? If you do, then these comments will make sense to you…
The original post came from proBlogger on the topic of having a blog A-list.

  1. Are you rudely and routinely ignored if you request an interview for a blog post?
  2. Does Ping-O-Matic return a “Yeah, sure, we’ll get to that someday” page when you submit your blog?
  3. Does your spouse make an odd face when you mention your blog?
  4. Do your friends joke about your “world domination”?
  5. Did YPN turn you down for their beta ad program?
  6. Are you too unimportant for Alexa to save any of your pages?
  7. Are all your pages PR0 in Google?
  8. Will your Adsense income forever be too small for Google to cut a check?
  9. Can you actually read your access_log and commit the whole thing to memory?
  10. Does Technorati still show 0 links from 0 sites?
  11. Given your bandwidth limitations, could someone a thousand times more popular use the same hosting service?
  12. Could your hit counter work just as well if it rolled over after 999? How about 99? 9?
  13. Are the only blogrolls that list your site owned by your friends?
  14. Did they misspell your site?

I think you know how to score your own answers. If you answered “yes” to all of these, you need work even to be a D-lister. If you answered “no”, well, you might still be a D-lister but at least you know things could be worse

Flickrvision - a web 2.0 mashup

I just ran across a pretty cool web 2.0 mashup site. Take Flickr photos and combine them with Google maps, then add some automation scripts and what do you have?

Flickrvision does just that. All you do is sit back and watch what people are uploading to Flickr and where they are located on a map almost in realtime. That’s sick!

Optimism

Darren Rowse from problogger wrote a blog entry titled 9 Attitudes of Highly Creative People. Optimism was listed #5 and he included this image from Flicker, which I think sums it up pretty good.

One in a sea of many...

Kitchen remodeling

AnaLuisa and I are remodeling our 1940’s kitchen and adding a touch of modernism at the same time. Since we both like Ikea stuff, the decision to shop at Ikea for our new kitchen was almost a no-brainer.

As an added bonus, Ikea has a 3D Kitchen Planner Tool that let’s you see how your kitchen will look like after it’s done.

Here are some preliminary images taken from the 3D planning tool.

A color scheme designer

I’m finding more useful programs, as I dig deeper in Linux. For example, I recently came across Agave. A color scheme program for the GNOME desktop. The latest version is 0.4.2 and feels very stable in my book.

Agave - a colorscheme designer for the Gnome desktop

This program is great for those times when you’re trying to come up with a decent color scheme for a website or projects that require a well-balanced color scheme.

You can also use it to come up with a new color scheme for your home office or renovated kitchen. At least that’s what I plan to do…
