in Linux.
I recently installed Ubuntu 6.10 on my laptop as a dual boot option. So now I can either boot into Windows or Linux
I am very excited about having Ubuntu on my laptop because this is the computer that I lug around all over the place.
Having Linux on my laptop means that I can access my server (running openSUSE) from anywhere a lot easier. Don’t get me wrong, I could always get into Linux via the shell (command line interface), but now I can get into it like using Windows Explorer (a graphical mode) or using remote desktop.
now comes the fun part — the configuration.

I’ve been hearing some good things about Wine, mainly that it allows you to run Windows programs on Linux — so I decided to give it a try.
Geek moment
The installation procedure on Fedora Core 6 was extremely easy.
From the command line, just type: yum install wine and let the scripts do their magic.
My goal is to be able to sync my Pocket PC (running Windows Mobile 5) with my Linux machines.
I will follow up with comments on my progress…

If you haven’t checked out the Beryl project yet, you’re missing out!
Beryl adds very impressive 3D effects and functionality to your Linux distro.
If you are a visual person like me, you’ll like the rotating Desktop Cube, which allows you to work with your desktop in a different way. This is my favorite feature so far and i’m still digging…
It certainly makes computing more enjoyable once again!
